Null Asset Properties Block Project Deployment (Doc ID 1914430.1)

When a project was ready to be deployed, the administrator got a warning in the BCC user interface saying that there were assets needing to be merged. There were no asset lock conflicts listed in the BCC. Deployment to the Staging target was attempted but the deployment failed. The cause of the deployment failure was repository properties that were defined as required turned out to be null :

When the list of project assets is viewed in the BCC, almost all of the properties of the assets have null values. When project assets are listed, the display name of the affected assets shows a string of the form <Repository Name>:<Item Descriptor Name>:<Repository ID> even though this string is not present in the asset's displayName property or in any of the asset's other properties.

The project was created by exporting some data into an XLS file format, modifying the data in the spreadsheet, and then importing the updated XLS file.
