Symptoms

The issue described in this document is known to Oracle, and a fix already scheduled for future release.
This article will be updated as official patch information becomes available.

In Oracle Retail Merchandising System (RMS) 13.0.6, a "Class already exists" error message is being thrown when trying to create a new class.  This issue occurs when the user enters just the class number without entering a corresponding class description.  The same scenario also exists for new subclass entries, as well.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Log in to RMS application and click on Merchandise Hierarchy > Class.
  2. Create a new class, entering just the class number and not the class description.
  3. From Options, click on any of these: Merchandise Hierarchy Defaults, User Defined Attributes, Transit Times.
  4. Note that a misleading error message is thrown: 'Class already exists'.
