MRP Planned Order Quantity Is Incorrect When Using Multiple Rank Sourcing Rules and ASL Supplier Capacity (Doc ID 1950688.1)

Last updated on JUNE 28, 2017

Applies to:

Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

On : 12.1.3 version, Materials Requirements Plan.

Users are testing supplier capacity constraints and multiple rank sourcing rules in regular MRP module. However the planned order results they see in the MRP workbench don't seem to honor the sourcing rule percentages as expected. Support duplicated the problem internally

Testing ASL and multiple rank sourcing rule for buy item in regular MRP and profile MRP: Cutoff History Days = 0.
12.1.3 Inistance
Item = JMASLBuy with 0 Lead time and MRP Planned - buy item
Org = M1

Setup 3 Approved Global ASL for the item
Supplier = Abbott Laboratories - Supplier Site = CORP HQ
Supplier = 3M Health Care - Supplier Site = CORP HQ
Supplier = Allied Manufacturing - Supplier Site = DANVILLE-CTR

The only constraint created on the above was for
Supplier = Abbott Laboratories - Supplier Site = CORP HQ
From 10-OCT-014 and up Capacity per day = 50

Sourcing rule setup
Name = JMASLBuy
Org = M1
From 10-OCT-2014 and up
Buy From Supplier = Abbott Laboratories - Supplier Site = CORP HQ Rank 1 80%
Buy From Supplier = 3M Health Care - Supplier Site = CORP HQ Rank 1 20%
Buy From Supplier = Allied Manufacturing - Supplier Site = DANVILLE-CTR Rank 2 100%
Planning active enabled upon saving

Assignment Set = JMASLAssignSet
Item-Organization = M1
Item = JMASLBuy
Sourcing Rule = JMASLBuy

Setup MDS name = JMMDSASL with following entries
Qty = 300 due 13-OCT-2014
Qty = 230 due 17-OCT-2014

Setup Supply Chain Plan name = JMASLMRP
Attached the Assignment set = JMASLAssignSet
Planned Items = Demand schedule items only
Overwrite = All
Append Planned Orders = enabled
Planning Time Fence (1 day) = enabled
Added Org = M1
Added MDS = JMMDSASL

Important: Plan run date = 10-OCT-2014
Profile MRP:Cutoff History Days = 0

Workbench data:

A. For demand qty = -300 due 13-OCT-2014 – breakdown
Abbot qty = 100 – this is the capac 50 per day – makes sense as qty = 50 on 10-OCT and 13-OCT = 100 for Supplier Capacity
3M qty = 60 – this is 20% of qty = 300 so this makes sense based on sourcing rule
Allied qty = 140 – balance is made of by rank 2 supplier – all looks good for this day

B. For demand qty = -230 due 17-OCT-2014 – breakdown
Abbot qty = 200 – okay 14 to 17-OCT inclusive = 200 at 50/day (excluded capacity from 10 and 13-OCT) – makes sense based on supplier capacity
3M qty = 18 ??? – 20% x 230 = 46 – only need 30 so expected qty = 30 here
Allied qty = 12 ??? Didn’t expect any qty for this supplier at all
