Excessive Notifications from Promotions Manager for Shared Wallets (Doc ID 1953500.1)

Last updated on MARCH 27, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Network Charging and Control - Version 5.0.2 and later
Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)

Symptoms

In Network Charging and Control (NCC), Promotions Manager (PM) allows users to create custom promotions to grant subscribers rewards based on specific usage such as recharge amounts, expiring balances, and exceeding usage quotas.

To keep subscribers up to date with their promotions, PM allows users to create notifications for this specific purpose.

Unfortunately a problem exists when a Balance Expiry promotion is applied to a shared Wallet between two or more Calling Line Identifications (CLIs) with each CLI receives multiple, duplicated notifications.

For example, if there are two CLIs sharing a Wallet where a bucket expires and a promotion fires, each CLI will receive two notifications instead of one each.

Please note this issue only affects Balance Expiry Promotions.

Changes

Creation of a PM notification for a Balance Expiry Promotion which is applied against a Shared Wallet.
