Last updated on MARCH 08, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle Agile Engineering Data Management - Version 6.1.3.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

On Oracle Agile e6.1.3 starting with HF05 (Not resolved with HF 08!) but also on e6.1.2.2 HF 29 and 30
Find that when a user tries to update the field T_VIS_CSS_DAT.EDB_CSS_DEF in the style sheet mask EDB-VIS-CSS-SLI with more than 535 characters, the application server crashes (Error message: Connection to host <hostname> lost).
If the application is restarted, however, the record is in the system as saved (even with a value that is bigger than 535 characters in field T_VIS_CSS_DAT.EDB_CSS_DEF)

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
==========================================
1. Open menu “System” -> “Visualization”
2. Open tab “Stylesheets”,
3. Click Insert button to create a new record
3. Enter “test” in field “Style ID”
4. For field “Definition” (T_VIS_CSS_DAT.EDB_CSS_DEF) enter a value with a long string > 535 characters - e.g. like
XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-X—70
XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-X—70
XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-X—70
XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-X—70
XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-X—70
XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-X—70
XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-X—70
XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
5. Save the record

=> The server crashes and the error message appears as mentioned above
