Why Is There a Delay Between Creating Data in RMS and Accessing It in RPM?

(Doc ID 1965949.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 01, 2016

Applies to:

Oracle Retail Price Management - Version 14.0.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

We are noticing that there is a delay (about an hour) in seeing changes performed in Oracle Retail Merchandising System (RMS) show up in Oracle Retail Price Management (RPM).
For instance, when adding a new department in RMS, this change does not get reflected in RPM right away and it takes about an hour to see it.

In the RPM Operations Guide (OG), there is a section that mentions caching specific values.  The object caches are accessible across requests and users and are configured to be refreshed at configurable time intervals:

“RPM uses an open-source product called EHCache as a caching framework.
EHCache features both memory and disk cache storage options and flexible configuration.
Further information about this framework can be found at http://ehcache.sourceforge.net/.”

What is the configuration that controls this caching process and how can it be minimized?

Example Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Create Dept in RMS
  2. Go to RSM to add the department.  Note that it is not immediately available.
  3. Wait around an hour and the Dept becomes available in RSM.
