SYMPTOM 2

The following would be another symptom of having incorrect permissions when running WebSphere as the root application and having the Oracle Utilities Application Framework Based environment installed as a non-root user.

[1/27/15 11:09:35:491 CST] 000000aa SystemOut     O  -  2015-01-27 11:09:35,491 [JVM 1 ERROR logger] ERROR (cobol.host.ProcessLogger) ERROR: Could not load classpath property file 'spl.properties'
[1/27/15 11:09:35:561 CST] 000000b0 SystemOut     O  -  2015-01-27 11:09:35,561 [JVM 2 ERROR logger] ERROR (cobol.host.ProcessLogger)     at com.splwg.shared.logging.FrameworkLogger.<init>(FrameworkLogger.java:30)
[1/27/15 11:09:35:591 CST] 000000aa SystemOut     O  -  2015-01-27 11:09:35,591 [JVM 1 ERROR logger] ERROR (cobol.host.ProcessLogger) ERROR: Could not load classpath property file 'log4j.properties'

Possible Causes

•    SPLEBASE is not set either via the command line or it is not set correctly in the IBM WebSphere Console (Select Servers, Server Types, WebSphere application servers).

•    When running IBM WebSphere as the root user, and having a different Oracle Utilities Application Framework administrator user owner (default user cissys).

•    WebSphere binaries are installed and running as the root user, and the application server is configured with the owner of cissys.
