Sending Of DTMF Tones As Per RFC2833 Using FireFox Browser (Doc ID 1985014.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 12, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Communications WebRTC Session Controller - Version 7.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

This is for a use case where in which the WSC interoprates with an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) sending Dual Tone Multi-Frequency (DTMF) tones as RFC2833 telephone-events. This secenario is implemented via the insertDTMF method in the browser's webRTC API interface. This use case has been confirmed to be supported by the Chrome Browser. Howerver, the Firefox browser's webRTC API interface does not support this scenario. RFC 2833 (RTP Payloads for DTMF Digits, Telephony Tones, and Telephony Signals) specifies an RTP payload format for carrying dual-tone multi frequency (DTMF) digits, and other line and trunk signals.

Is any other method or workaround available to send telephone-events to the remote party while using the Firefox browser ?
