How to Upgrade BRM 7.4 DB model to 7.5 without default values on EVENT_T table ?

In order to manually upgrade BRM 7.4 DB model to 7.5, we have seen that EVENT_T table earns new columns to host LINK_OBJ poid : LINK_OBJ_DB, LINK_OBJ_ID, LINK_OBJ_TYPE, LINK_OBJ_REV. Third of this columns are added with a default value ('0'). Also BAL_GRP_BALS_T table with these new columns : CONSUMED_RESERVED_AMOUNT (default value is 0 too)

For performance purpose, we would like not to initialize with the default value, is BRM is able to work without these values for existing records?
