User Has Thousands Of Store.exp Files In Their INBOX Directory (Doc ID 1988691.1)

Symptoms

User complaint that messages were being duplicated thousands of times in their INBOX and also that messages disappear randomly when accessing them in webmail.

Upon investigation, found that the user has ~10k store.exp files in their INBOX.

(17:31:35) [<MS Store partition DIR>/=user/d6/a6/=<USERID>] ls -l | grep -c store.exp
9377

Performed a basic reconstruct on the account and it complained and did a repair (which took almost an hour):

(15:36:48) [<MS Store partition DIR>/=user/d6/a6/=<USERID>] reconstruct user/<USERID>/INBOX
user/<USERID>/INBOX
ERROR: Inconsistent information: 2573 idx records 880967 messages 878281 expunged
Reconstructing...

Also seeing this same message repeated over and over in the imap log:
