Error in Chain Maintenance Screen: 'FRM:40508 -ORACLE error: unable to INSERT record' (Doc ID 1992555.1)

Symptoms

Error: "FRM:40508 -ORACLE error: unable to INSERT record." occurs when trying to create an already existing area on Area Maintenance screen.


Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Log in to RMS front end.
  2. Navigate to Actions--> Organization Hierarchy--> Chain
  3. Create a new Chain with the help of New button.
  4. In Area Maintenance screen, try creating an already existing area by giving the Chain number and clicking on OK button.


Expected:
   a. Error pops up "Chain number already exists. Enter a new value.
   b. Unable to save changes to database .If necessary contact appropriate support personnel.

Now, if we are trying to create a new area by giving a unique number and clicking on OK button:

Expected:
   a. It should prompt for other mandatory fields to be entered like "Area description"

Actual:

   a. Getting the error: "FRM:40508 -ORACLE error: unable to INSERT record."
   b. Unable to save changes to database. If necessary contact appropriate support personnel.
