Goal

This Oracle KM article supplements the OK v8.6 installation guide http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E38113_03/ok_8.6_install_gd.pdf AnswerFlow installation steps to provide tips/suggestions to install the new OK v8.6 AnswerFlow (integrated with IMDB) successfully.

Unlike the prior (pre-v8.6) OK AnswerFlow releases that use fileysystem based VCS versioning, the OK v8.6 AnswerFlow has new architecture to integrate with the DB-based OK IM system for the better version control, easier configuration/control and simpler AF process depolyment(promotion/publication).  As a result, the OK v8.6 AnswerFlow installation becomes a bit more involved in configuring and setting up with the IM system.

 

There is a bug for the wording in the install guide.  The install guide will be updated to say:

(For "Installation Requirements")
Before running the AnswerFlow installation program:
You should either:
A. Use the same repository that you use for Information Manager (recommended).
B. Create a dedicated AnswerFlow repository in Information Manager.
Either option you pick, you will need the Repository Reference Key of this repository during the AnswerFlow installation process.

For Oracle WebLogic, make sure that Oracle WebLogic Server is installed and the Node Manager and Admin Servers are running and make sure an Oracle WebLogic Server domain has been configured.
Important! For Oracle WebLogic, activate any changes to your domain. Your domain cannot be running in edit mode while this installer is running.
Note the Information Manager Web Services URL, the Information Manager Resources URL, and the Information Manager Console URL for the instance of Information Manager that you are configuring AnswerFlow with; you will need to supply these values during installation.

Creating Categories
For a category to be visible to a user in AnswerFlow Editor or AnswerFlow SampleUI, the category must be assigned to the AnswerFlow channel, and the category or a category above it hierarchically must be assigned to the user.
1 In the Information Manager Console, go to Repository, then Categories.
Create Categories and Subcategories for the Object Library used to navigate AnswerFlow processes and objects.
For information on creating categories and subcategories, see 'Adding a Content Category' in the Oracle Knowledge Information Manager Administration Guide.
2 In the Information Manager Console, go to Users, then Console Users, and then List.
3 Click the name of the user to assign Management Console User Properties.
4 Click Edit User to access the User details page.
5 In the Categories section, from the Available Categories, move to the Selected Categories each category that you want to assign to the user.
