Getting Error When Saving Location Groups "ORA-12899: Value Too Large for Column" (Doc ID 2001737.1)

Last updated on APRIL 11, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle Retail Allocation - Version 14.0.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Within the context of creating a standard allocation, if the user tries to save the Location Group for future use, the application returns the error "Location Group Save failed".

Noticed that the Allocation field length is not aligned with that of Retail Merchandising System (RMS).  The problem is that STORE_GRADE.STORE_GRADE is VARCHAR2(120) in RMS and in Allocation the length is lower.

Error: ... 93 more
Caused by: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-12899: value too large for column "RMS14"."ALC_LOC_GROUP_DETAIL"."GROUP_ID" (actual: 53, maximum: 40)

Steps to Reproduce:

1) Create a Standard Allocation.
2) When selecting location create a group and try to save it.
