aXML Export Of All Levels BOM With Attachments Error "Too many open files" (Doc ID 2001961.1)

Symptoms

Users are unable to export objects including attachments. The problem seems to be the number of attachments.

Export includes BOM ALL LEVELS including attachments

Export to aXML error  'too many open files'

Export to PDX error: java.lang.nullpointer.exception

Agiledomain.log logs the following error continuously

 <Critical> <Server> <xxx.com> <xxx.com-AgileServer> <DynamicListenThread[Default]> <> <> <> <1429550222640> <BEA-002616> <Failed to listen on channel "Default" on xxx.xx.xx.xxx:7001, failure count: 1, failing for 0 seconds, java.net.SocketException: Too many open files> 
 
Note: Exporting just one level BOM with attachments works fine.
