Different Wildcard Search Behavior Observed Between Central Office and Back Office (Doc ID 2010896.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 17, 2016

Applies to:

Oracle Retail Point-of-Service - Version 13.3.3 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

In Oracle Retail Point of Service (ORPOS), the act searching for a customer differs depending which database is being searched (Back Office vs. Central Office database).  Searching in Central Office (CO) requires use of wildcard character '*' since it is not automatically added.  When searching the Back Office (BO) database, the wildcard is added automatically.  Behavior should be consistent regardless of which database (CO or BO) is being searched.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Log in to ORPOS.
  2. Log in to Store A.
  3. Create a new customer, John Smith. (John Smith is created at Store A).
  4. Log in to Store B.
  5. Search by customer name 'JO'.
ORPOS searching Central Office returns no results.
ORPOS searching Back Office returns no results since the user was not created in that store.
  6. Now, search by customer name 'JO*' (i.e., with wildcard).
ORPOS searching Central Office does return results.
  7. Log in to Store A.
  8. Search by customer name 'JO'.
ORPOS searching Central Office returns no results.
ORPOS searching Back Office does return results, since the user was created in that store.
