Find slow performance for server side file checkout, in case File Server is running on same host as Agile e6 application server.
Client side check out is up to 20 times faster

same performance for client and server side checkout

1.) Test server side checkout:
  1. Create a document
  2. Check-in a file (for example "") should be > 4 MB
  3. Write a new LGV procedure BUG/fms_checkout
  Example for the "" file
  RES=@xfile_chk_out("C/SERVER=#SERVER /DISCPATH=/tmp /")
  4. Add the LGV procedure as select menu userexit to the menu EDB-DOC-FIL-RLS
  Userexit: lgv_sel_run
  Parameter: BUG/fms_checkout
  5. Restart the client to execute the customizing changes
  6. Search your document and switch to the file tab
  7. Select the file ""
  8. Execute the select menu selection which you have created to execute the LGV procedure

2.) Then perform interactive client check out

Compare checkout times - e.g. use file server log fms.log
Check lines like
  Status: Write to socket [10] [15523852 bytes] in 151.233795 seconds.
