Details

Prior to June 2015, Oracle allowed the purchase of the Oracle Communications Unified Communications Suite, which provided a package of all Oracle Unified Communications products in one bundle along with one centralized installation script.

Beginning in June 2015, the Unified Communications Suite license is no longer be offered, leaving only three separate licenses:

In order to obtain all the products in the Suite, you must purchase all three licenses.

This change in packaging affects purchasing, downloading, and the installation of all products. The most obvious change is that Oracle Unified Communications Suite license will be removed from the price list.

Previously, no matter what license was purchased, the entire Suite was available in one media pack on the Oracle Software Delivery Cloud. This has changed so that customers can only download products to which their license entitles them.

The most significant technical change involves the Comms Installer (i.e. commpkg). Previously, the single UCS Suite download provided a single Comms Installer which could upgrade or install all the products. Now each product contains its own commpkg script, allowing independent upgrades/installations.

This change also brings new installation more inline with patch installation. The patches are also applied by using commpkg from the current patch kit for each product.

UCS Licenses

Below are the licenses offered by Oracle Communications Unified Communications and their accompanying entitlements.

Oracle Communications Messaging Server License

In addition, the Messaging Server license includes entitlements to the following Oracle products

Although the Messaging license includes Contacts Server, it does not include the right to use MySQL. If you have purchased Messaging and Calender and want to use Contacts Server, then the right to use MySQL is included with the Calendar license. If you only purchased Messaging and want to use Contacts Server, you will need to purchase a database product separately.
The ISS package includes JMQ. The Messaging Server package does NOT include JMQ. If you install Messaging and ISS on the same system, there is no problem. If you install ISS on a separate system, you will need the JMQ package on the Messaging Server system. To accomplish that, use the commpkg from the ISS kit on the Messaging system and install its shared components by doing "commpkg install -comp ~ISS".

Oracle Communications Calendar Server License

In addition, the Calendar Server license includes entitlements to the following Oracle products

Oracle Communications Instant Messaging Server License

In addition, the Instant Messaging Server includes entitlements to the following Oracle products

UCS Documentation

The documentation has is also being reorganized. As each product is released, its revised docs will be on docs.oracle.com rather than wikis.oracle.com.

Check the Communications Unified Communications Suite Documentation page.

Due to the recent licensing/packaging change, some installation documenation may still need to be updated. Previously, the installation documents talked about getting the (singluar) Comms Installer to install both the shared components and any individual component products you wanted -- all from that single installer. Now you will be using the commpkg installer command from each individual products. The usage is the same, but each one only contains the single product.

Platform, Operating System versions, and Product Dependancies

The OS versions, product dependencies, etc., that used to be in the UCS-wide Release Notes will be found in the Installation and Configuration Guide for each product, not the Release Notes.

UCS Installation Software Download

Go to the Oracle Software Delivery Cloud, review and accept the notice, start typing either "Messaging Server" or "Calendar Server". It will auto-complete and show the full names, which start with "Oracle Communications ...". "Messaging" will find both Instant Messaging and Messaging Server.

Select the platform. (Note that "Windows" is listed because there are some components which install on Windows client systems, but the servers run on Solaris 64bit, Solaris x86-64, or Linux 64bit.)

If you search for Unified Communications Suite, it will find the previous Suite release version 7.0.6. That one is only still there because of the old Mobile Sync Server package.
Search for either Messaging Server or Calendar Server to find the correct packages for the current release.

Downloading Multiple Products

You can make multiple top-level product/license and platform selections on this page. Then click Continue.

You can download all the components for all the licenses selected which apply to the platforms selected. Or you can expand the lists and select only the desired component products.

If you have selected more than one top-level product/license (for example: Messaging and Calendar, or all three) and plan to install them all on the same system, you should expand the lists and see which component products are common between all of them.

For example, chose the Directory Server Setup (dssetup) from the one which has the most recent version.

Shared Components

Each installer now contains all the shared components required by that product. You should not need to worry about installing shared components first.
