Endeca Indexing Failed with Error "Crawl 'CRS-last-mile-crawl' failed with error: No data records output" as No Records Generated by ProductCatalogOutputConfig (Doc ID 2028037.1)

Symptoms

When running a baseline indexing it was observed that no products were being generated by the /atg/commerce/endeca/index/ProductCatalogOutputConfig component and this caused the indexing to fail with the following error:
