Is it Mandatory to Configure the Messaging Server before Installing a Patch? (Doc ID 2033037.1)

Oracle Communications Messaging Server - Version 7.0.5 and later
Linux x86

Goal

To confirm if both of the following upgrade methods are recommended and supported in the case of a fresh installation or new setup.


Method 1:  Install + Upgrade, then configure

  1. From V46527-01.zip, install Messaging Server (64bit) 7.0.5.31.0
    1. No configuration done.
  2. From p21136071_70_Linux-x86-64.zip, upgrade Messaging Server (64bit) to 7.0.5.35.0
  3. Configure Messaging server (execute "configure" command)


Method 2:  Configure before installing the patch

  1. From V46527-01.zip, to install Messaging Server (64bit) 7.0.5.31.0
  2. Configure Messaging 7.0.5.31, by executing "configure" command
  3. From p21136071_70_Linux-x86-64.zip, upgrade Messaging Server (64bit) to 7.0.5.35.0
