For UIM 7.2.5.2, Dependent DropDown Characteristics, Default Value Option Fails. (Doc ID 2034209.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 07, 2015

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Unified Inventory Management - Version 7.2.5.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

You are using Dependent Drop Down characterstics with some default values.

Where the populating of Dependent Characterstics with Default values mentioned in "<UIM-HOME>/config/characterstic.properties" is getting failed.

- uim.characteristic.dropdown.defaultValue.enabled=true
- uim.characteristic.dropdown.characteristicname.=Referenced Entity Display Label in drop-down

Scenario 1: You have an entity link characteristic and its Default Value is automatically selected. However there is an issue for its dependent characteristic – its Drop-Down list is not loading any values. When the “Default value for an entity link characteristic” functionality is disabled (uim.characteristic.dropdown.defaultValue.enabled=false), the list for the dependent entity link characteristic returns some values.

Scenario 2: There are 3 entity link characteristics which are dependent on each other as follows: “2” is dependent on “1”, “3” is dependent on “2”. We have the following Default values configured for the three characteristics:
1. uim.characteristic.dropdown.characteristicname.administrative_area=TP_AA
2. uim.characteristic.dropdown.characteristicname.subdivision=TP_SD
3. uim.characteristic.dropdown.characteristicname.thoroughfare=TP_Th

The Default value is selected only for the first characteristic.
This functionality should work for an unlimited number of dependent entities link characteristics.
