Oracle DIVArchive: How To Adjust The Database Backup Retention Window (Doc ID 2042401.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 11, 2018

Applies to:

Oracle DIVArchive - Version 6.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

This guide will detail the steps necessary to adjust the retention time for database backups.

Default value is 10 days, meaning that RMAN and deletion scripts keep full ORACLE DB Backups and Transaction Logs for a sliding duration of 10 days.

When DIVA system load increases and the number of objects and daily ORACLE SQL transactions are rising, it may be required to reduce / lower the duration of this retention window to maintain hard disk drive space under control.

This will apply to the MANAGER's H:\ disk and the amount of ORACLE DB Backups and Transaction Logs that are kept.
