Symptoms

Running the command "sms_stop.ces -aiS" cannot be run in the background.

sms_stop.ces -ais &

will stop with:

[1] + Stopped (SIGTTOU) sms_stop.ces -aiS&

As of Network Management Systems (NMS) version 1.10, the command should be able to run in the background.

The issue can be reproduced with the following steps:

1. Start NMS services
2. Run "sms_stop.ces -ais &" and note in another terminal whether the services are stopping.
3. Bring the command to the foreground and now see that services are stopping.
