References to a record in Experience Manager, such as the records specified on a RecordSpotlight cartridge are lost after variant producers in the ATG configuration are changed.

The variant producers configured on the component /atg/commerce/search/ProductCatalogOutputConfig/ drive the record specifier or the ID of records being indexed.

For example, if an application is configured to have 3 variant producers:

  2. /atg/commerce/search/LocaleVariantProducer
  3. /atg/commerce/search/PriceListPairVariantProducer

The record specifier on an output record may resemble:

If a variant producer is added or removed, then the record ID will change, and any references to a specific record, such as RecordSpotlight cartridges in Experience Manager will need to be reconfigured to point toward the new identifier.

Is this the intended behavior of the product, or is it possible to prevent the loss of these mappings so that when variant producers are added or removed, there is no need to manually reconfigure all dependent cartridges?
