Details

The Oracle Retail software organization is announcing a new method of delivery for published release collateral associated with a given patch:  Defect Documents and Product Documentation (Release Notes, Installation Guides, User Guides, etc.).

The new publication mechanism will allow for easier maintenance and correction of defect and product documentation, as needed, by the Sustaining Engineering team. The new distribution will additionally allow customers, implementers, and Support personnel greater ease of access to the reports/documentation collateral.



Defect Documents

Defect documents have historically been made available within major patch/bundle releases of Retail software.  These informative defect reports , typically one per bug/fix, have historically been included in .zip file format within the patch collateral that is downloaded from My Oracle Support.  

Going forward, all defect document material (the reports themselves, as well as the compilation spreadsheet reference) will be posted to the following document in the My Oracle Support knowledge base:

Product Documentation

Oracle Retail product documentation (such as Release Notes, Installation Guides, User Guides, and so on) is also no longer packaged with the code and is available going forward from the following site:

Additional Notes

  1. This change in publication mechanism only applies to patch releases, such as RMS 14.1.2, and does NOT apply to one-off hotfixes.  Hotfixes will continue to deliver defect documentation (if available) within the hotfix download.
  2. The change is not retroactive.  For patch releases already present on My Oracle Support, the defect document .zip file is still held in its original release location (i.e., within the patch download).  The change only applies to patches released since this change in provision (and those yet to be released).  
  3. This change is applicable to all patch releases from June 2015 onwards, and applies to all release lines.
