Agile EC Connector Not Launching, No Login Prompt Showing, javaw.exe Process Shuts Down

When trying to launch the EC SolidWorks connector no login prompt asking for credentials appears. Since there is no login prompt it is not possible to login. The status bar is progressing but eventually the dialog simply disappear. Also when looking at the Windows Processes (Task Manager) the javaw.exe process appears only for a second before it also disappear from the list. No logs are generated either (a9handlers.log, a9proxy.log, a9gui.log).
Steps to reproduce:
- From SolidWorks try to login to EC.
- Notice the login prompt never appears.
Since this is a startup issue and no logs are generated it is not easy to identify the root cause of the problem. There is a way to customize the EC startup in order to show the command prompt and see if any errors are showing up on the console. In order to see an error message on startup the following needs to be done:
- Backup both the "acx.bat" and "start_acx.bat" file (located in "<AgileEC_Install>\xacw\components\com" folder) in order to keep an original copy of both files.
- Open the "acx.bat" file using a text editor.
- Locate the 1st line which says:
After performing the above steps, and trying to launch the EC connector from SolidWorks, the following error is seen on the command window:
