Information in this document applies to any platform.
The Rapid Planning Installation Document Part No. E48788-04 suggests the steps of deploying the User Interface Application (OrpUI_EAR.ear) and
the RP Administration Application (ORPAdmin.ear) directly on the Admin Server for the UI domain.
We have been following the guide and using the same practice for our installations.
Usually it is a Weblogic best practice to use a Managed Server for the applications and the Admin server is just used for the Admin console and admin functions such as starting stopping servers etc.
We wanted to explore
if it is possible to use a Managed Server for the UI and RP Administration application.
Hence we are looking for the below information:-
- Is it acceptable to use a managed server for the UI and RP Administration application and not deploy anything on the Admin server?
- Are there any additional steps required if we choose the above approach of using a managed server instead of Admin server?
Changing the profile
"MSC: Oracle Rapid Planning URL" to the managed server listen port and
also setting the datasource to target the managed servers
are the ones we can clearly identify.
