IBM z/OS on System z
We would like to implement COBOL 5.2 on z/OS. One of the requirements of this version of COBOL is for any statically linked modules to reside in a PDSE Loadlibs instead of PDS datasets.
To test this, we copied the DocuMerge Loadlib members to a PDSE and attempted to run various utilities as well as VDR and DMGMERGE steps. This produced Abends when using PDSE libraries. The same job stream(s) using a PDS as the Documerge Loadlib ran successfully.
PDS: A data set in direct access storage that is divided into partitions, called members, each of which can contain a program, part of a program, or data. It is a Partitioned Data Set.
PDSE:A system-managed data set that contains an indexed directory and members that are similar to the directory and members of partitioned data sets. It is a Partitioned Data Set Extended.
System Abends occur when implementing Cobol 5.2 in conjunction with the Documerge Loadlibs that are called from a PDSE.
