When installing Oracle Financial Services Profitability Management (PFT) or Asset Liability Management (ALM) 8.0 pack, you get an error when using a JDBC Connection String that contains the "Service" name required when using a pluggable 12c Oracle Database (PDB) with the multitenant option.  The following error occurs in the OFS_PFT_installation.log:

[Mon  24/8/2015 10:39:00] [OFS_PFT] [ INFO] - ----------END InitializeEnvVariables---------
[Mon  24/8/2015 10:39:00] [OFS_PFT] [DEBUG] - in DB Manager :  : ********* : configuser : jdbc:oracle:thin:@servername:1521/servicename
[Mon  24/8/2015 10:39:00] [OFS_PFT] [FATAL] - =====Exception====
    at java.lang.Class.forName0(Native Method)
    at java.lang.Class.forName(
    at com.ofss.fsgbu.installer.common.DBManager.Init(
    at com.ofss.fsgbu.installer.common.DBManager.<init>(
    at com.ofss.fsgbu.installer.preinstall.ValidityTest.install(

If you change the JDBC Connection String to the format below, you get a different error running the Schema Creation utility:

[Mon  24/8/2015 05:26:53] [SCHEMAUTILITY] [ INFO] - Validating Connection URL ...jdbc:oracle:thin:@servername:1521:servicename
[Mon  24/8/2015 05:26:53] [SCHEMAUTILITY] [ERROR] - Exception while connecting to DB User sys as sysdba on jdbc:oracle:thin:@servername:1521:servicename
[Mon  24/8/2015 05:26:53] [SCHEMAUTILITY] [ERROR] -
java.sql.SQLException: Listener refused the connection with the following error:
ORA-12505, TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor

As a result of these errors, you cannot run the installer with the pluggable 12c Oracle Database.
