Is it Possible to Remove the Nr Parameter From URLs For SEO or Aesthetic Purposes? (Doc ID 2060641.1)

Last updated on MAY 04, 2020

Applies to:

Oracle Commerce Guided Search / Oracle Commerce Experience Manager - Version 3.1.2 to 11.0 [Release 3.x to 11]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

The Endeca SEO URL Formatter does not appear to remove Endeca record filters (Nr parameter) from URLs.

E.g. .../path/to/some/category/_/N-abcd?Nr=property.value...

The following configurations in NavigationStateBuilder component do not appear to work as documented for the Nr parameter:
1. removeAlways - append the parameters to be removed
2. removeOnUpdateFilterState=No|Yes - Default is No, try changing to Yes
3. removeOnClearFilterState - The parameters set over here will be removed when the method clearFiilterState() is called

Adding the Nr parameter to the removeAlways configuration of the NavigationStateBuilder component does not affect the rendered URLs.

Due to this issue, URLs with certain filter states are not SEO friendly, causing impact on search engine ratings for customer web pages.
