Is MS8 Schema Fully Backward Compatible With Messaging 7? (Doc ID 2064422.1)

Goal

Regarding the LDAP schema for Messaging 7.x and 8.x,  is the new schema for Messaging 8 fully backward compatible with Messaging 7 (7u4 and 7u5)?

Can we deploy the new Messaging 8 LDAP schema even if we are still running Messaging 7u4 and 7u5 with Convergence 2.x?
