Enabling Record Search to Return Ancestor Matches in a Hierarchical Dimension (Doc ID 2065323.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 07, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle Commerce Guided Search / Oracle Commerce Experience Manager - Version 6.1.0 to 11.1 [Release 6.x to 11.x]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

In a 11.0.0 ATG/Endeca integration, is it possible to search and match against all ancestors of a hierarchical dimension instead of just the leaf values that are explicitly tagged to a record? For example, if “Women > shoes” and “girls>luxury>sandals” are product.category values for a product ‘productABC’, searching with term “shoes” and “sandals” returns the product ‘productABC’ but searching with the term “women” , “girls” and “luxury” does not return the product ‘productABC’.  The business needs the productABC record to be returned for all the record search terms : “women” , “shoes”, “girls”, ”luxury” and “sandals" ancestor values in the hierarchical dimension.

How can this be enabled in any version?
