Record Filter is not Applied to Query if Aggregate Record is Selected in RecordSpotlight Editor

When attempting to save a specific record for a RecordSpotlight, if the record is an aggregate record, any record filters applied will not be honored in the final record selection. Example:
In Experience Manager, enter the Endeca browser to select records for a record spotlight cartridge. French and English records are a part of this MDEX, all are shown. Filter the records on "English". Select English records. Click "Save Selection" View the Selected Records list - it includes both French and English records, seemingly at random.
