How To Sort By Sale Price When Evaluating Item Promotions (Doc ID 2072234.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 04, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Commerce Platform - Version 10.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

When creating an item promotion rule, it is possible to specify whether the discount applies to "Lowest Priced Items First" or "Highest Priced Items First" in the "Offer" section as documented at Merchandising Guide for Business Users > Creating and Managing Promotions and Coupons > Creating Promotions > Condition & Offer Templates.  However, this always uses the list price of the items, even if they are on sale.  Also, for some promotion rules, the items used by the "Condition" are always qualified "Highest Price Items First" (this is not shown in the Merchandising UI and there is no way to change it in the Mechandising UI), and this also only uses the list price of the items.

In some cases, it may be desirable to use the sale price instead. In most cases, it is ideal to use whichever price is currently applying to the item in the pricing.  The typical logic is if the item is marked as "on sale", the sale price is used, otherwise the list price is used.

The following enhancement request was implemented in 11.3 version to make this easier to handle in this version (without custom code).

20964242 - Promotion rule item sorting does not work as desired
