Purpose
Some larger OSM customers use mirror splits to take a snapshot of the DB prior to partition-based purging for backup, and they use it to restore the DB in the event of error. Oracle recommends the use of storage solutions that support mirror splits, especially in the case of large installations. This document provide more information on adopting this best practice.

This is particularly applicable to larger OSM installations.
