How To Set Up A Proper Mailing List (Doc ID 2081462.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 14, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Messaging Server - Version 6.2.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

How Do I Set up a Proper Mailing List (Rather than a Group/Autoforwarder)?

Background:

For example, take the following group:

Assume that user2 is disabled, overquota or any other situation that the mailuserstatus attribute allows.  If a user sends an email to group1@example.com, by default the other members of the group receive an email from the postmaster saying that user2 is disabled, overquota, or whatever is appropriate to the situation.  (Prior to Messaging 6.2, the original sender of the message would receive the notification.  This was changed because it is highly unlikely that the original sender is in a position to correct a problem with the group or its members.  Indeed, the original sender may be completely unaware of the group membership or even that the address is associated with a group.)

Question:

Is there a way to not have this notification sent to someone responsible for maintaining the group instead of the group membership or the original sender?
