Symptoms

The issue described in this document is known to Oracle, and a fix is already scheduled for future release.
This article will be updated as official patch becomes available.

In Store Inventory Management (SIM) application, we find that the "From Date" and "To Date" fields in Future Stock Counts screen can be manually entered.  If a user enters a from date that is greater than the to date, the SIM client hangs with the error below.  If the SIM session is killed using the Task Manager window, we find that:

   1. If using LDAP based authentication, the user is locked out and further login attempts fail with "Login Failed. Username and/or password is incorrect, or user is unauthorized" error
   2. If using Database based authentication, the user is allowed to log back in without any issues.

Steps to Reproduce:

   1. Log into SIM
   2. Navigate to "Inventory Mgmt" -> "Stock Counts"-> "Future Stock Counts"
   3. The From and To date window is displayed
   4. Using the calendar, find that it is not possible to select a future date, than what is shown as default
   5. However, find that the "From Date" and "To Date" fields can be manually entered
   6. Enter a future date (for example, today + 15 days) as "From Date"
   7. Enter current date as "To Date"
   8. Click on "Apply" and note that the SIM client hangs
   9. After certain time, a severe system error is displayed with the following error:

javax.ejb.EJBException: Transaction Rolledback.; nested exception is:
weblogic.transaction.internal.TimedOutException: Transaction timed out after XXX seconds
BEA1-4777FC3CA95B97051508; nested exception is: weblogic.transaction.internal.TimedOutException: Transaction timed out after XXX seconds
BEA1-4777FC3CA95B97051508
weblogic.transaction.internal.TimedOutException: Transaction timed out after XXX seconds
BEA1-4777FC3CA95B97051508
....
....

  10. Find that the SIM client is still frozen
  11. Kill the application using Task Manager
  12. Re-launch SIM client and find that:
       a. If using LDAP based authentication, the user is locked and login attempt fails with "Login Failed. Username and/or password is incorrect, or user is unauthorized" error.
       b. If using database based authentication, the user is able to log in
