SendNotification Node Generates Notifications with NULL Values (Doc ID 2098286.1)

Symptoms

In all versions of Oracle Communications Network Charging and Control (NCC), when a Send Notification (NOTF) node is used in an Advanced Control Services (ACS) Control Plan (CP) to generate balance information Short Message Service (SMS) message, some of the variable parts in the SMS template can be NULL if the balance query fails.

As a result, the outgoing notification may look something like this:

Your balance as of 12/21/2015 11:49 AM is, , valid until   .

This only affects implementations using the DIAMETER Charging Driver (DCD) to interface DIAMETER Billing/Commerce/Charging Engines.

Changes

Introduction of a DIAMETER billing solution or a new SMS template has been added which uses variable parts from said DIAMETER servers.
