Signal 11 Error During DRP Plan Run (Doc ID 2100000.1)

Last updated on MARCH 08, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle Advanced Supply Chain Planning - Version 12.1.3.9 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

On a 12.1.3.9 Instance With VCP 12.1.3.9.1 Patch 17350769 applied

While running the DRP Plan, Memory Based Planner completes in error:

ERROR
-----------------------
MSONWL64 module: Memory Based Planner 64-bit Linux

APSDemandPlan: AddSupplyPeg: ERROR: More supplies to allocate than demands. qty: 3e-05
Using ITF Supply. So using transaction ID -1
/oraapp/uvcp/apps/apps_st/appl/mso/12.0.0/bin/MSONWL64.exe
Program was terminated by signal 11

1. By looking at the 'Supplies more than demands' errors in the log file, we rounded all the demand quantities in the DP scenario that is feeding this plan. After doing this, the plan failure (signal 11 error) went away. However, we went back to our original issue - The plan kept hanging indefinitely.
2. We also noted in the Memory based Planner log file that the planner was stuck at a particular item for a very very long time.  This was evident based on the number of times the following line is printed in the log file:
:7(:379288:10632:1:101:1:-23453:-23453) 999999999
3. We therefore took the above item (inventory_item_id = 379288 and organization_id = 10632) and made it 'Non DRP Planned'. When we do this, the plan completed in 15 minutes. If we set this item back to 'DRP Planned', this plan hangs for hours together.
4. By looking at the item properties, we could not figure out why this single item would cause the plan to hang.

STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Run the DRP Plan
2. Note the Signal 11 error
