<Shift> Down Arrow in Columns Jumps Upward in P6 Professional

(Doc ID 2100174.1)

Last updated on JULY 31, 2017

Applies to:

Primavera P6 Professional Project Management - Version to [Release 15.1 to 15.2]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Shift/Down Arrow in columns jumps upward.

After assigning a value in a column in the Activity table (pick-list driven, so the dictionary window opens with a selection being made by pressing enter or the green 'Selection' button thus closing the window), if the user holds down the <shift> key and presses the down arrow to select additional Activities to fill down the values, the cursor jumps upward and highlights all records above to the top of a group-by band. This was not the behavior in P6 PPM version 8.2, nor 8.4. It is now in P6 PPM 15.1.

The user will be able to make multiple selections without the jumping behavior described.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

1: Open Project, Go to Activity view, show Activity Code column (example Phase).
2: Left-click on Activity with Code assigned and select a different Code Value (example current assignment Found -> change to Rough).
3: Select the <shift> key and the down arrow to select additional Activities to fill down the values.
4: Activities residing above and below the highlighted item are selected.

* Note: if you move to another cell and then back to the value and follow the steps only Activities below the highlighted are selected.

The issue has the following business impact:
Due to this issue, users cannot make multiple selections using the <shift> key.
