Is there a technique for creating a rule for a recalc measure consisting of all three hierarchies (loc, prod, clnd) whereby the recalc rule operates differently in elapsed periods than in open future periods of a workbook?

We have 2 expressions with a weighted rule whereby one right-hand (RH) measure is a recalc and the other RH measure is a Total that works on all time periods.  We want to know if there is a way to have the elapsed periods operate on one condition and the open periods operate on a different condition.  This works for rules that do not involve recalc measures, but past testing showed that this type of time period conditional rule did not produce the desired result when recalc measures are involved. Is there some other possible method for achieving this?
