DEAD_PROC_TIMEOUT Not A Means To Address POSTBOX Table Growth In ORS v1 (Doc ID 2100902.1)

Last updated on JUNE 03, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Real-Time Scheduler - Version 4.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

On : 4.5.15 version, Admin Setup

What will be the impact if the DEAD_PROC_TIMEOUT value is reduced to 20 minutes instead of 60 ?

The reason to reduce the configuration parameter is, the RM client connections are not getting removed in process_status table even after the client is disconnected. This is causing the POSTBOX table count to grow until the RM process is closed by ORS after DEAD_PROC_TIMEOUT expires which is set to 60 minutes.
