Memory Based Planner Error Intermittent Error APP-MRP-22086 or Signal 9 (Doc ID 2106631.1)

Symptoms

On : 12.1.3 version, Memory Based Planner in PROD

Users are on 12.1.3 and have applied VCP 12.1.3.9.1 Patch 17350769. They are running an unconstrained ASCP plan. Memory Based Planner running into error intermittently (every other day according to the customer). When it fails, log file MRCNEW - Memory-based Planner errors with:

APP-MRP-22086: mrpdmt_populate_demand_tree: Cannot allocate memory for fpreqs
Cause: The current routine cannot allocate memory for the specified entity.
Action: Contact your customer support representative.
Total memory usage: 4102917

We had users switch over to 64 bit Linux MBP but it still fails intermittently in MSCNWL64 module: Memory Based Planner 64-bit Linux with

One thing we noted is when the plan fails, memory usage has jumped from 10 Meg to 4 Gig. We believe this is the same problem as Note 1997849.1 Bug 20676347 : MEMORY BASED PLANNER 64-BIT LINUX FAILED WITH SIGNAL 9
