IndexSvc Enters Maintenance Mode After Thumbnails/Attachment Directory Is Removed (Doc ID 2108551.1)

Last updated on MAY 05, 2021

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Indexing and Search Service - Version 1.0 to 1.0.5 [Release 1.0 to 1.0.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

We would like to turn off thumbnail generation and destroy the attachment directory without affecting the index.

Procedure:

We tested the following scenario in our labs and had no issues with the index service coming up cleanly:

1.  Changed:

iss.indexsvc.attachmentstore.enabled = true

to:

iss.indexsvc.attachmentstore.enabled = false

2.  Stopped ISS; then renamed the attachment directory:

3.  Made sure <DIR>/jiss/attach is still there even though it is empty:

# ls <DIR>/jiss/attach

4.  Started ISS again.

In production, the index would end up in maintenance mode.  We had to revert back and rename and remount the attach directory for the index to come up cleanly.

Changes

Turned off thumbnail generation and removed attachment directory.
