Convergence: Unable to Add Corporate Address Book Contacts Directly to an Address Book Group (Doc ID 2113561.1)

Last updated on MARCH 30, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Convergence - Version 3.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Using Convergence 3.0.1.1.0
Other products involved: Outlook Connector (OC) 9.0.0.1.0 and Contacts Server 8.0.0.2.0

Outlook Connector allows the user to add Global Address List (GAL) contacts directly into a group but it is not possible to do the same when using Convergence.

For example, in Outlook Connector:

1) Log into OC
2) Create a Contact Group
3) Add some contacts from the GAL

Observe: Contacts are added directly to the new Contact Group

In Convergence:

1) Log into Convergence
2) Go to AddressBook
3) Create a New Group

Observation 1: Cannot add GAL/Corporate Directory (CAB/Corporate Address Book) entries directly to a group.  You have to save them first to the user's PAB (Personal Address Book), then you can edit or create a group and add members from your PAB list.

Observation 2: Also, when doing a Corporate Directory search and selecting one or more contacts, you have the option to "Copy To" your PAB, but there is no option to copy it to the new group you created.

Note it does not matter whether Contacts Server (CardDav) or Convergence (WABP) is used for the addressbook.
