Imsexport Store Error: Cannot Create File Needs More Detail (Doc ID 2117311.1)

Symptoms

We have an automated script which uses the Messaging Server imsexport utility.

On March 13, it failed. We are trying to determine the reason why because the error message contained in the default log, does not include enough detail.
For example, here is the error message we found in the default log:

[13/Mar/2016:12:00:42 -0700] mail_server imsexport[12409]: Store Error: Cannot create file <DIR>/user1/1457895637358//INBOX
[13/Mar/2016:12:02:38 -0700] mail_server imsexport[12405]: Store Error: Cannot create file <DIR>/user2/1457895637358//Drafts

The above errors should have included some detail about why they could not create. Did an open() call fail? what was the Unix error number? Or what was the reason for "cannot create"??
