Data access restriction in the OHI Claims database is only available through functional views, but there is no functional view for authorizations. A functional view for cla_authorizations is necessary because this table is subject to data access restrictions as well. The Implementation Guide for Reporting Views does not give information about a functional view for authorizations, so this means it does not yet exist.
In the OHI claims database, a base view exists for authorizations, but a functional view cannot be generated. There is a need to restrict Employee As Member data from database users. This cannot be accomplished for authorizations unless a functional view can be generated. The workaround in place is to grant database users access to all authorizations regardless of role, which is not acceptable from a security standpoint since it is not an acceptable security practice to give all users access to the database due since it contains personal information.
