Error 'Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint 'pk_settings'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'dbo.SETTINGS'.' When Attempting to Upgrade the P6 Database using DBSETUP (Doc ID 2126505.1)

Symptoms

When attempting to upgrade the database using the Database Setup Wizard (dbsetup.bat /.sh), an error similar to the one below occurs and the upgrade fails:

Error in run SQL script SSPPM_p82.sql DatabaseToolException (Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint 'pk_settings'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'dbo.SETTINGS'. The duplicate key value is (<NAMESPACE value>, <SETTING_NAME value>)

 

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

1. Launch dbsetup.bat /.sh and step through the process.
2. Observe the reported error during the "Core upgrade steps" segment of the process.
