Header Rewriting Problem - "To" Field Is Changed To The Value Of The "From" Field, Inserting The Sender As The Recipient (Doc ID 2136178.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 25, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Messaging Server - Version 7.0.5 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Using: Oracle Communications Messaging Server 7.0.5.29.0 64bit.

We are using Cisco IronPort MTAs.

We are experiencing a strange problem with arrival of messages to some mailboxes.  It appears to be a header rewriting problem where the "To:" field is changed and takes the value of the "From:" field, inserting the sender as the recipient.
The email reaches the recipient mailbox properly, but from there on, there is a problem with our external software application which captures the email based on the filters set on the fields.

Here is an example email sent from user1@outside_domain.com to user2@domain.com:
