Bulk Save As From The MCAD Save Preview Window Doesn't Assign Numbers Correctly to Design Items
Last updated on JUNE 10, 2016
Applies to:Oracle Agile PLM MCAD Connector - Version 3.3 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.
"Save As" from Save Preview window , when a user selects multiple objects and then hit the "Save As" Design Icon, the system defaults to using the part autonumbering, not the Preference default set for the design autonumber.
EC Preferences are set as "Save As" to "Design Only", and the default Design object number to "Design Number". This design number default is not holding when doing a Save As from the main Save Preview window.
wrong Design numbers are being assigned when using the bulk save as function, requiring manual intervention one by one on all of the parts that require saving
Preferences are set with "Save As" = "Design Only". So when a user does a bulk save as from the save preview screen it should only be creating new Design objects. It does that, but doesn't use the default Design autonumber naming scheme as expected, it uses Part autonumber naming scheme instead which is not acceptable.
Steps to reproduce:
Retrieve an existing assembly from Agile an open it in SolidWorks.
- Do an Agile Save Preview
Note – Preferences are set as
Save As = Design Only
Design Autonumber = Design Number (the EC out of the box DESIGNxxxxx numbering system).
2. If the user does a Save As on an individual component then MCAD correctly assigns it a new Design autonumber
3. But if the user selects multiple objects in the main Save Preview screen and use the Save As button, MCAD incorrectly uses the Part autonumber default to create/number new Design objects.
4. EC should be using the defaults set in the Preferences – but it’s not.
