Request for More Practical Auto Hide Feature in the Java Client Message Window (Doc ID 2148728.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 23, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Agile Engineering Data Management - Version and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

It should be possible to configure the message window in a Java Client to include an "Auto Hide" feature either by adapting the configuration file or in the Java Client Preferences.

Following settings should be available:

Off (Auto Hide is turned off: The message window is visible all the time)

On (Auto Hide is turned on but will be turned off in the session

On /Cont - Auto Hide is turned on and will be turned off only for five seconds when a message appears in the message window. Risk: Message is not visible / readable as the message window is hidden again very quickly.

Currently, there are not any preferences settings for the auto hide feature for the Java Client's message window.  Instead, there is just a toggle button on the message window with which the auto hide feature can be turned on or off.
When turned on it is automatically turned off completely as soon as a message appears in the message window which is impractical for users because users could miss the message entirely.  If the toggle is always on or always off, it may not be efficient for users.

Instead, a better solution would be to have the "Message title" & possibly the Agile icon in the windows taskbar flash, indicating a new message until the message is viewed like seen in other applications (e.g Skype / Outlook applications).
